At Tallinn University’s Haapsalu College, students in the Health Promotion Specialist program have the opportunity to earn an applied higher education degree. This program provides strong theoretical foundations along with practical skills and experience in public health and healthy lifestyle counseling. The curriculum includes 30 ECTS of practical training, offering students valuable hands-on experience to prepare them for professional challenges even before graduation. The goal of the program is to provide an education that enables graduates to successfully fulfill tasks in the field of health promotion.

Who are we expecting?

We welcome applicants who are interested in movement and nutrition counseling, as well as in organizing and managing health promotion at the individual, organizational, community, or national level. Thanks to its session-based learning format, this program is well-suited for working adults—classes are generally held every other week from Thursday to Saturday, and the flexible structure supports the completion of practical training.

Learning environment that supports specialty acquisition

  • The field of health promotion in Estonia is constantly evolving, and we recognize the need to adapt to new developments in a meaningful and well-thought-out way. Our curriculum development and teaching methods are grounded in scientific research.
  • The applied nature of the college’s study programs ensures that learning is enriched with practical tasks. Our faculty includes both academic experts and industry professionals, maintaining a high level of academic integrity while offering real-world insights.
  • The session-based study format (typically Thursday to Saturday, twice a month) allows students to balance work and family life with their studies. With prior agreement from their employer, students can arrange study leave. To ensure the best learning and collaboration experience, classes take place on-site in Haapsalu. However, in exceptional cases, we also offer flexible options for remote participation, which must be arranged in advance.
  • We prioritize students’ confidence in achieving their goals and succeeding in their studies. A supportive and collaborative atmosphere within optimally sized study groups enhances the learning experience. To help students adjust to university studies, we offer the course Learning in Higher Education at the beginning of the program. Academic counseling is readily available and an integral part of Haapsalu College. Students also have access to all counseling services offered at Tallinn University’s main campus.
  • To support their studies, students can apply for various grants and scholarships through Tallinn University. Additionally, there are opportunities to enrich academic and practical experiences through study and internship placements at universities and organizations abroad.
