iCal calendarTallinn University, in cooperation with Ülemiste City and University of Tartu, hosts the first-ever Falling Walls Lab event in Estonia. This exciting platform, aimed at fostering groundbreaking research and ideas, is a unique opportunity for young bright minds to come together and present their innovative solutions to global challenges.
The Falling Walls Lab Event will take place on May 23rd 2025 at 18:30 PM at Tallinn University (Uus-Sadama 5, Building Mare, 3rd Floor, K-Atrium) bringing together students, young academics, entrepreneurs, and professionals to pitch their research projects, business models, social and political initiatives. Each participant will have just three minutes to showcase their breakthrough ideas to a public audience and a distinguished jury of experts from academia and industry.
The winner of Falling Walls Lab Tallinn will earn a spot at the prestigious Falling Walls Lab Finale in Berlin on November 9th, where they will compete with other Lab winners from around the world. The Finale is part of the annual Falling Walls Conference, which brings together leading scientists, innovators, and thought leaders to discuss and celebrate breakthroughs in science and society.
The Falling Walls Lab Tallinn/Estonia is accepting applications until May 15th from students, young researches as well as young professionals from all over Estonia:
Participants from outside Tallinn can apply for reimbursement of their traveling costs.
Which are the next walls to fall?
The event is part of the global Falling Walls initiative in over 100 countries worldwide, originating in Berlin in 2011. It is a unique global hub connecting science, business, and society with the aim to shape the future of humanity by impact-oriented ideas, discoveries, and breakthroughs across borders and disciplines. With the world-changing spirit of 1989 it is continuously on its pursuit to find out: Which are the next walls to fall?
“We are glad and excited to organize the first Falling Walls Lab event in Estonia, to provide a stage for young bright minds and their ideas and solutions to global challenges, which are, I fear, more needed now than ever before," says Andreas Volk, organizer and guest lecturer of the German Academic Exchange Service at Tallinn University.
The Falling Walls Lab Tallinn/Estonia is funded by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and the German Federal Foreign Office, highlighting international collaboration and support for innovation.
“We are excited to co-organize the first Falling Walls Lab event in Tallinn, which is a vibrant example of the strong scientific collaboration between Estonia and Germany. Estonia, a country renowned for its innovative spirit, is a major asset to the international Falling Walls Community,” states Tina Spicher, head of the Cultural Section of the German Embassy in Tallinn.
Participants and attendees of the Falling Walls Lab Tallinn/Estonia can look forward to an inspiring evening of presentations, networking opportunities.
The event is open for the public and free of charge.
