Scholarship and Costs
tudents participating in the Erasmus+ programme have the right to apply for a scholarship that helps cover additional expenses related to the exchange. The financial support of the Erasmus+ programme may not cover all of the costs related to study and/or internship abroad, and thus self-financing may also be necessary.
Scholarship for long-term traineeships
Travel support rates: Travel support applies to all outgoing Erasmus+ students.

Inclusion SupportThe Inclusion Support is a grant based on actual expenses, intended for higher education graduate students who would not be able to participate in Erasmus+ mobility without additional financial support. It must be applied for two months before the start of mobility, and all potential expenses must be considered and detailed in the application (along with amounts). The Inclusion Support does not cover expenses related to visas and insurance, as these are covered by the living allowance. It should also be noted that the Erasmus+ programme is not intended to cover all possible expenses, and participants must take into account their own contribution. Scholarship for short-term traineeships
Erasmus+ main scholarship for short-term blended mobility (from October 2024)
- 1st to the 14th day of physical mobility – 79€/day;
- 15th to the 30th day of physical mobility – 56€/day

Estonian Government Scholarship
Students participating in Erasmus+ traineeship will receive an additional one-time 118€ scholarship on behalf of the Estonian Government.
Erasmus+ programme additional support for students with fewer opportunities
Students with fewer opportunities receive an additional:
- One-time scholarship
The amount of additional one-time scholarship depends on the duration of the physical mobility period:
- 5-14 days of physical mobility = 100€
- 15-30 days of physical mobility = 150€
Student is entitled to additional support intended for students with fewer opportunities when they are:
- recipient of Estonian needs-based study/special allowance,
- parent of minor child/children,
- from foster care background,
- with diminished work ability,
- with special health needs or a chronic illness.
To apply for additional support the student needs to send a declaration of honor to TLU Senior Specialist for International Studies for signature

Inclusion Support

Important to know

The calculation of the mobility period is counted ‘in days’ considering every month to have 30 days. Starting and ending date of the mobility is agreed in Learning Agreement. The actual duration of the exchange is confirmed by the Letter of Confirmation once the exchange has ended.

The first part (80%) of the scholarship for long-term traineeship is paid before the exchange and the second part (20%) after the exchange, if all the requirements have been fulfilled. The scholarship for short-term traineeship is paid 100% before the exchange.

If the duration is shorter than planned, any excess grant amount will be reclaimed after the exchange has ended.
- All tuition fee paying students who have been admitted in the academic year of 2022/23, have to pay 100% of their tuition fee to TLU during their semester/year abroad.
- The traineeship organization may pay the trainee for their work.
