Tallinn University Law Students Present Research on AI Monetization at LAITech2025
Third-year Bachelor’s Law students at Tallinn University, Eliisa Vihljajeva and Krystian Lapka, presented their research paper, “Algorithms for Profit: Legal and Ethical Challenges Related to the Monetization of AI Content,” at the LAITech2025 Student Conference on The Law, Ethics, and Policies of AI and Future Technologies, held on February 27-28, 2025, at TalTech. The conference was organized by TalTech Law School and ILSA TalTech.

Eliisa and Krystian dedicated several months to researching the legal and ethical challenges of AI-generated content monetization. Their presentation focused on intellectual property rights, liability issues, and consumer protection concerns, highlighting gaps in the EU’s AI Act and the Estonian legal framework. They explored key questions surrounding copyright ownership of AI-generated works, regulatory enforcement challenges, and the risks of AI- driven misinformation and unfair market practices.
The conference brought together experts for discussions on neurotechnology, cyberwarfare, AI regulation, privacy challenges, and other emerging topics through expert panels and individual presentations. Eliisa and Krystian particularly enjoyed engaging with the audience’s thought-provoking questions, gaining insights from other speakers and panelists, and networking with researchers, professionals, and students from around the world.
They express their sincere gratitude to their professor, Dr. Aksamitowska, for her invaluable guidance and support, as well as to the TalTech organizers for the seamless execution of the event. Both students highly recommend the LAITech conference to anyone interested in AI law and policy and encourage fellow students to participate in future editions.
